Shilajit

Asphaltum punjabianum

Also known as: Mineral Pitch, Mumijo, Black Asphaltum

Overview

A mineral-rich resin from Himalayan rock formations containing 85+ minerals and fulvic acid. A double-blind RCT confirmed testosterone restoration and mitochondrial energy enhancement at 90 days.

Proposed mechanism

Fulvic acid chelates heavy metals and enhances mineral transport across cell membranes. Dibenzo-alpha-pyrones enhance mitochondrial CoQ10 function and ATP synthesis. Upregulates steroidogenic enzymes.

Mechanisms describe how researchers think a compound may act, often from laboratory work — a proposed mechanism is not proof of a clinical effect in people.
